Multicriteria Decision Analysis Project on Environmental Problems

In this paper we describe the data for five real applications of multicriteria methods in the context of environmental problems. The applications are: (1) the choice of a solid waste management system for the Uusimaa region, Finland, (2) for the Jämsä region, Finland, (3) the Oulu region, Finland, (4) locating a waste treatment facility in the Savonlinna region, Finland, and (5) choosing among different options to develop the Helsinki harbour, Finland. The waste management applications (1)-(4) handle over 70% of all waste in Finland. The respective multicriteria decision-aids were ELECTRE II (1), ELECTRE III (2)&(3), PROMETHEE I and II (4), and Stochastic multiobjective acceptability analysis, SMAA (5).
